Stop watching your LinkedIn views. Do this instead.
If you've been checking who's viewed your LinkedIn profile and feeling weird about it not turning into anything, you're not alone.
I had this exact conversation on a coaching call recently. A member's views and website traffic were both up. Conversations were still at zero.
You gotta remember a view isn't a lead.
It's a signal or a door that opened for half a second. If you don't walk (or push your way) through it, it closes and you never know what was on the other side.
So this week, try this:
Any time someone views your profile who could plausibly be a recruiter or a hiring manager or a peer, message them.
Something as simple as "I saw you looked at my profile, do you have any roles open in X right now?" works.
There's not really any downside. Worst case, nothing happens. Best case, you just skipped the whole line everyone else is standing in.
This ties into something else I talk about constantly: the hidden job market runs on people acting on small signals, not waiting for big ones.
Most roles get filled through someone's network before they ever hit a job board.
The view is one of the smallest signals there is, and most people let it pass by completely.
Layoffs have already passed all of last year's total. More competition is coming whether we like it or not.
The people moving fastest right now aren't the ones with the most polished resume. They're the ones acting on every signal they get instead of just watching it happen.
